NT pass-through security not working
webberb
I'm running Orion V7 on a Windows 2000 box and I want to authenticate back to my AD domain. I followed the steps in the manual to enable NT pass-through security (I unchecked anonymous access and checked integrated windows security), and added my username in the form domain\username, but it still doesn't work.
Any gotchas I need to know about to make this work?

Have you tried stopping and re-starting IIS ?

On a different topic...has anyone notice that pass-thru will not work unless the account is either a domain admin or local admin on the server?
I added a user domain\username and he gets a windows pop-up to put in his credentials. He does so and the server won't let him in. If I put his account as a local admin then he works fine, any other group he still gets the pop up and can't get in.
Anyone seen this a got around it without having to make these people admins??

Bryan,
Sounds like permissions are not set right on the SolarWinds folder under Inetpub.

What permissions need to be set under that folder?
The group Everyone has Read, Read & Execute and List folder contents selected.

Try re-running the Web site part of the Installation wizard again.
Just cancel the install wizard after it has installed the web site.
It sets up the permissions correctly for you.

I was wondering if anyone has tried auto login for a group of users. If i have a group called "domain\network admins" with a user called "bob" in it. Can i add the group to account manager, or is it only userid passthrough. I am 99% sure that i would have to add "domain\bob" for him to get his (or his group's) customized views. Just wondering if anyone has done this successfully, or im just dead wrong

Check this post:

I've played with using AD groups, but it only seems to work for the domain\everyone group.
I'd sure like to be able to use the built-in AD groups, rather than adding individual accounts.
That way I could give our helpdesk(~20 users) limited access to the webpage and not have to bother when users come & go.
