Hi.
I have several HP Procurve 4000s that want to either poll or run trap rules on to detect fan failures.
I haven't been able to find an oid that works to poll fan status so I've been looking at trap rules. The problem I'm having with those is that I get the traps and can trigger actions based on the snmpTrapOID, whih would allow me to trigger actions for all hpSwitch4000's, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get actions to trigger on the content of the trap details, to allow me to trigger actions for fan events only.
Below are examples of 2 of the records I'm working with. There is not an oid for eventDescription in the SNMPv2MIB that I can find.
Trap Time IP Address Trap Type Trap Details
11/19/2007 1:13:53 PM 172.31.1.253 hpSwitch4000.0.2 sysUpTime=10 minutes 50.56 seconds
snmpTrapOID=hpSwitch4000.0.2
eventDescription.70=I 11/19/07 13:13:52 chassis: Fan OK: Fan: 1 Failures: 10
snmpTrapEnterprise=hpSwitch4000
11/19/2007 1:13:45 PM 172.31.1.253 hpSwitch4000.0.2 sysUpTime=10 minutes 42.56 seconds
snmpTrapOID=hpSwitch4000.0.2
eventDescription.70=W 11/19/07 13:13:44 chassis: Fan failure: Fan: 1 Failures: 10
snmpTrapEnterprise=hpSwitch4000
How do I create a rule that triggers actions based on the contents of the Trap Details field?
I'm pretty new to Orion so if this is a stupid question, sorry.
Thanks,
Pat
