Hot-Standby works with any poller?

Hey there,

There were previous posts but I can't get any of them to display correctly (the browser just cycles endlessly after selecting anything from a search page) so apologies if this is a re-request...

Does the Hot Standby Engine work to backup any poller or only the primary SLX poller? The documentation only makes reference to the primary poller so I didn't know if that was just unfortunately ambiguous language or a real limitation.

Will, the HSE can take over for any of of several pollers, but only one at a time.

A follow-on question: Can I specify one HSE for a group of pollers in order for it to take over for the 'first' failed poller or do I have to associate one-to-one (i.e., if I have four poller, I have to associate four separate HSEs?) Obviously, if I have multiple failures then I've got other issues going on but I'm really looking to ensure that I can setup one HSE and it can take over for any poller that pukes.

Okay, what about using a VM server (VMware) to setup an Hot Standby Engine?

I've read that additional polling engines can be setup using VMware servers.

Is there documentation regarding installing Orion and scalability engines using VMware servers?

You can set it up as you would on a physical server.

What about any modules you have installed on the Primary poller like APM?
