Hi All,
I was wondering if someone could be so kind as to help me with the following:
1) Colours – as shown below, you can see that when I have things like a “Down Alert” they are in yellow (prefer this to be red) and warnings in yellow and up in green and say notifications in purple.
2) Events written – I have 2 groups, one called New York Switches(which contains the core switch) and a group called NY Core – Children (which contains all the children switches of New York Switches) When an alert goes into warning\down\up as you can see below I get multiple alerts or events written to NPN, would it not be better to have something like:
- **Warning** New York Switches is in warning state because NY Core – Children has node NUIDF36-2 in warning (and if there are multiple nodes down it says the same thing but lists all the nodes.
- **Down** This will be the same as above except warning will become down
- **UP** Same as above except down will be come UP
3) Reboot Alerts – As you can see, I get one when the server reboots and then when the server comes back up again, what is the best way to monitor server reboots as even if you stop the SNMP server you get a reboot alerts.
What I am trying to achieve is that the events written in NPN and the emails sent to the engineers are clear and concise and that nothing can be missed due to too much clutter.
I am rather new to NPN and so really battling to get it all setup so any help is greatly appreciated.
