Node Management - Custom Properties changes reverting

Question

First off, please excuse my lack of knowledge, as I am just a co-op student who has only been exposed to SolarWinds for a few weeks now.

I am in the process of organizing a fairly extensive amount of assets (nodes?).

After completing a network discovery, I have a large amount of unknown nodes that I have to manually organize. There are 3 custom fields (within "Edit Properties") that I have to add information for - Zone, Category and Location. Zone and Category seem to take no problem, however the last field, Location, won't seem to permanently save. There are probably 50 - 100 new values that I have to add to the drop down and after a certain amount of time the new values I have added to the drop down disappear and the Location column seems to clear itself out off the information I have added. I have done them twice now and have had the changes revert on me and it seems to only save A - K and "deletes" everything else that I have done.

Hopefully I've explained the problem clearly enough. Any help on where to start on this is appreciated.

My gut feeling is that it's a DB issue, but I will try all of your suggestions and see how they go.

Hmm, well first I would test if it is still an issue with autodiscover. Try adding some that were deleted and then manually rediscover/trigger autodiscover and see if they vanish from that.

Otherwise, it might be a database issue, but you'll need to either log on to the server where SW is hosted to check its event logs or ask your sql database engineer to see if anything is acting up on the SW databases (ie. hard disk full issue).

I think I may have caused some confusion in my explanation, I didn't realize there's a default field named location. One of our custom properties is AssetZoneLocation, which is the one I'm having problems with. AssetZone and AssetCategory seem to save fine, but AssetZoneLocation will revert back (to nothing/blank) and I will lose some of the custom values that I have added in the drop down menu and only some of the nodes will lose the information entered. There is approx 6000 nodes and it seems like 2700 or so will not save the custom AssetZoneLocation info permanently.
