Scheduled Network sonar discovery settings

Hi there,

I would like to be able to setup recurring Network Sonar discoveries with the option of not importing any interfaces or volumes. Is there an easy way to set this up? It seems like each time I manually run a saved discovery, I have to deselect all interfaces and volumes.

Can you expand on this. You can ignore them and we will never tell you about them again if you don't want to monitor them. You can do this in the scheduled discovery results page

I recommend running Orion NPM v10. Scheduled re-discovery is a supported feature in v10 that you can set to occur on a defined cycle. When new devices are added you will still have to choose the drives and interfaces you want to monitor on that device but you will be notified through the web UI when new devices are found and if you choose not to import a device, you can tell Orion to put that devices on an 'ignore' list.

I suppose I should've mentioned that I am currently running NPM v10. So your saying that if I setup scheduled rediscovery, then I will have to manually uncheck all interfaces and volumes from being added, each time the discovery runs?

That's correct.

I think it would be great to be able to group the interface types and drive types and filter them on a rediscovery just like we can for the first discovery.

Would that help, if SolarWinds took that as a feature request?

I think that would be a good feature to add. This is probably something that affects smaller installations more than larger ones. I mean, the only reason I need to filter out volumes and interfaces is because I have a limited license. When each windows box is discovered with 10+ interfaces, and most large switches will have 200+ interfaces, your license is consumed pretty fast.

Really? That's exactly what I'm looking for -- I want to be able to have my scheduled discovery run, but not import any interfaces or volumes, even for new nodes.
