Custom Properties

I am new to SolarWinds. We have Orion NPM installed to monitor our servers and I'm going through creating new Network Sonar Discovery items to automatically go out and find new servers everyday. Is there any way with this tool to automatically fill in custom property fields while it's discovering nodes?

That would be a feature request.

After the nodes are in, you can multi-select a number of them from Manage Nodes and edit the custom properties there. You could use SQL UPDATE statements against the Nodes table and update custom properties that way as well. Or, if you are on the 10.4 RC, you can specify values for the custom properties and have them shown on a pull down list. You can then use the multi-select method described above.

In addition to Sohail's suggestions, you could use the Orion SDK (documented here: ) to fill these properties in based on some criteria or a csv file on a scheduled basis.
