NetPath not showing hops

NetPath from my Solarwinds server is working great. I have two NetPath probes on Windows servers, pointed back to Solarwinds from remote sites. One works great, the other doesn't. The one that doesn't work shows no hops. It shows itself, Solarwinds, and nothing in between. A tracert from the server shows three hops in between, as expected.

Anyone know why? Not sure what other info I can provide.

The only difference is that pushing out an agent to this particular server failed, and I installed it manually as agent-initiated.

Is there a number in () on either of the endpoints. I have a netpath that travels from my Solarwinds box to an external website and it groups all the same hosts in an Autonomous System together. But, I can double-click on each AS and it will expand and show all the hops in that AS. I have not setup between any Windows hosts yet. So, I may be way off, but thought I would offer what I have seen on this new tool.

Try reinstalling the agent...if there is a seperate FW setup for the second site, make sure the proper ports are open. 17778

No firewall in between. Wouldn't that prevent it from reporting in entirely, anyway?

I'll reinstall when I have a chance to reboot in between.

Just finished setting up about 20 new NetPath probes, all of them pointed to the same two destinations (one our Solarwinds server, one external). The results are sporadic. They were all deployed the same way, on the same OS, with identical (or very nearly identical) hardware in play. Some show all hops for both destinations, some show no hops for both destinations, and some show hops for one and not the other.

Waiting on Solarwinds to approve my support account so I can open a ticket.

Just an update for anyone with the same issue - I've had a support ticket open for a month now, and Solarwinds clearly has no idea why their product is broken.

that is disappointing to hear how long it has been since you opened a support ticket. I opened one yesterday I guess I will be waiting a long time.

I have the same problem. I have a probe that simply is checking some external sites on TCP 443. In the middle, it says all of the hops don't respond.

What i think is happening (as is typical with Solarwinds and their bugs): The code is attempting to perform TCP 443 checks of all the hops along the path vs. ICMP checks.

Why do I think this: Because traceroute from the probe to the monitored external site works and shows the hops along the way.

Not sure if anyone is still seeing this but you can check the troubleshooting here: No external hops showing in NetPath

Also, if you still have cases open, please feel free to show it here and I would love to take a look at it.
