Deletion of unknown interfaces

Hello,

I am working on a clean up activity and require to delete the interfaces in unknown state for almost 1300+ nodes. I tried deleting the interfaces on manage nodes and then listed resources for a node and selected only the UP interfaces. But i see that the unknown interfaces are still showing up on the interfaces box.

Is there a way where i can have them not show up and have only the UP interfaces?

Also is there a way i can do this in a bulk rather than manually doing this on each node?

Go in Database Manager...sort interface table by status...or do select statement to show only those in unknown status. Then delete. Would have to make table editable.

You will likely hear someone recommend not to do this.

I believe you can do this from the web too...manage nodes...show interfaces. Do you see up/down/ unknown? I'm not in front of my installation right now, but if you can select the unknowns, it should be easy enough to delete.

I don't have any in Unknown status right now to verify - but give this a try.

Go Manage Nodes select Interfaces then group by Status.

bobmarley thanks for your reply. I did delete the interfaces by grouping them by status. But it still shows up on my node summary page.

You could always edit the SQL on the Nodes Summary page. There are some examples there. I use Status<>1 so only nodes that are down are shown, otherwise I get a bunch of nodes that are up but have interfaces down.

If you happened to have the correct version of Network Sonar, you could run the wizard to discover and only monitor ports that are Operationally up. Or any other option shown here:

Thanks all, i will be deleting them from the DB tonight, will try with a few nodes to see how it reflects on the summary page.

Glad that worked for you malasherv . You can use this approach if the web interface is not cooperating with you. Just realize that modifying/ deleting via the database should be undertaken with some caution.

I usually craft a query (select from where...) so that I see only the rows I am concerned with. Then with only relevant row(s) showing, delete or change the offending values/ rows.
