Access points are double posting with incorrect information.

Hi everyone. I work for a college in Florida the bad weather/lightning capitol. We had a storm that took out power last week to several buildings. When the building came back up our access points did as well. However, now I have two AP's on my list that are being posted twice. Once as down, and once as up. I know that the AP's are up I physically went out to check them, and Orion is showing them as having clients associated. My concern is how do I clear the double posts from the wireless summary view? I have had this happen before and they have always cleared within twenty-four hours.

Please let me know any helpful information you guys have.

According to support this is caused by corruption in the .sdf files that are responsible for wireless polling. Here are the instructions they gave me for clearing the error.

 

Here is a set of instructions that will temporarily wipe out the "Wireless" view - all you need to do is then do a rediscover on the WLC's and the AP's should start to show back up in your Wireless View

Try this

1. Stop all SolarWinds Services.

2. Browse to the direcotry C\Documents and Settings\All Users\ApplicationData\SolarWinds\JobEngine\Data\ folder

Rename "JobEngine35.sdf" to "JobEngine35.bak"

Right-click “JobEngine35 - Blank.sdf” and select COPY

Then paste it in the same folder

Rename "Copy of JobEngine35.sdf - Blank" to "JobEngine35.sdf - Ensuring that you remove the read-only checkbox in properties.

Now perform the following

Launch the Database Manager from All Programs -> SolarWinds Orion -> Advanced Features -> Database Manager

And perform the following

1. If the Database (or SQL Server) is not listed, you will need to enter
that information in the "Add SQL Server" window.

2. Once connected - Expand the NetPerfMon Database (assuming the default
database for NPM)

3. Scroll down to the table = NPM_NV_WL_APS

4. Right click the NPM_NV_WL_APS table and select "Query Table"

5. At the top of the Query window - select "Read-Write (Results can be
edited)

6. Now modify the query to the following - Do these one at a time and then hit refresh.

DELETE FROM NPM_NV_EW_DEVICE (hit refresh)

DELETE FROM NPM_NV_WL_CONTROLLERS (hit refresh)

DELETE FROM NPM_NV_WL_APS (hit refresh)

DELETE FROM NPM_NV_WL_INTERFACES (hit refresh)

DELETE FROM NPM_NV_WL_CLIENTS (hit refresh)

 

Now restart all SolarWinds Services 

 

** Perform a rediscovery on the wireless controllers/ap's.

 

In about 10-20 minutes you should start to see good data.
