Different Value of Memory Utilization

Hi, I just found the value of Windows server's memory utilization reported by "CPU Load & Memory Utilization " is different to "Disk Volume - Physical Memory" reported.

For example, "Disk Volume - Physical Memory" reports 45% which is the same as Windows Perfmon reports, but "CPU Load & Memory Utilization " shows only 39%

I know Orion take both physical and swap memory into account, but it can not explain this problem since "Disk Volume - Physical Memory" is higher than "CPU Load & Memory Utilization " reported.

Does anybody has the same problem? Which value should I trust?

I am running Orion 9.5 SP4 and am experiencing this same problem. I have a case where this is a 68% difference between the two.

Could somebody please explain the difference between how these two different values are calculated so I can better understand why there is such a big discrepancy in some cases?

Have you looked at some of the articles in the knowledge base on SW.com? There are a couple items in there that may explain the issue you are seeing.

Disk Volume - Physical Memory: this represents what is in the system. If there is 2GB you will see it is reporting acurately.

CPU Load & Memory Utilization: this represents physical and VM together. If there is 2GB P and 1.5GB V you will see this as 3.5GB and the utilization (%) will be lower.

Also, if you are using Lotus Domino, you will see that CPU Load & Memory Utilization pegged at 100%. This is apparently a flaw.

We adjusted our page display to remove the memory utilization gauge and choose to show only the CPU load.
