Advanced Alerts: Calculating time between alert trigger and reset?

Is there any way to calculate time duration between alert trigger and reset and utilize that information in reports?

Advanced alerts doesn't contain any timer action.

We have possible use case where customer i.e. wants to know how long node have been down.

I haven't yet figured out how to perform that with Advanced Alerts.

New alerting engine in 11.5 includes a macro for downtime: ${N=Alerting;M=Downtime}

rob.hock‌, that's huge. My customers will love that. I've got SQL code everywhere that tries to calculate that metric. Waiting patiently until the right crisis justifies moving to 11..5

Well, if you write to the event log both when the event triggers and resets, then you can diff the timestamps in the event database. It might take some advanced SQL to write a query that will successfully filter these based on NetObjectID as pairs of Alert and Reset, but I'm sure it is possible.

I can't mentally compose a query that wouldn't get some seriously jacked up results, though, as there is no event correlation (like unique tags for pairs of event triggers/resets) in the event log.

Pre 11.5;

Easiest way may have you calculating down time - besides emailing your alerts to SharePoint (or some other entity) with a specific format and let that dissect and do your calculation - in my mind is (if you are okay with using the built in variables) using the

Alert Trigger Time & Date/Time

On the initial alert I put the alert trigger time, then on the reset I put both the alert trigger time, and current Date/Time (labeled on the email, as Alert reset time)

** Also, If you build the alert, then convert it to SQL, you can then calculate the down time within your email to make life easy **

rob.hock‌ any plans on implementing ${N=Alerting;M=Downtime;F=DateTime}, or some other formatting condition to easily allow for a "Days Hours:Minutes:Seconds" output? Perhaps something to show output in the same way/format the "Alert Active Time" column shows on the active alerts page...
