Slowness when Adding Nodes

Question

Over time as the number of nodes I've added increases, I've noticed that the time it takes to add new nodes via the Administrator GUI takes longer and longer.  I've recently made several changes to polling times to improve my overall performance, however adding nodes continues to take longer and longer...often up to 3 to 5 minutes per node vs. about 20 seconds per node until recently.  When you have to add hundreds of nodes that 3 to 5 minutes becomes problematic.

Does anyone know what tuning can be done to possibly speed up this initial discovery of new nodes?

Can you post a screen shot of the Windows Task Manager Performance Tab?   Thats a bit of overkill, there are limitations such as disk speed (IO), hardware buffers in NICs, and the fact that Orion can not use multiple CPUs.  Seems like your trying to pull a flatbed trailer with  a Porsche.

Yeah but our servers are 20TB, 18.0Ghz, 128GB Ram, because we are a Goverenment Body we get things cheap

michael - 26,000+ on two polling engines!  I have a semi large SLX Orion deployment: (19116 Elements) six servers’ total - 1 Orion server, 3 Polling Engines, 1 HSB Server, 2 clustered SQL servers.  My servers are monsters (Dual 3.20 Intel Xeon, with 8GB mem and 4 fiber channeled gig interfaces)

Total number of elements (nodes and interfaces) I can get on them tops out around 6k - 7k, after that they act freaky, even after doing the polls per second tuning.  Occasionally I have had to re-boot the polling engine and re-run the Orion configuration wizard

whats your Orion setup? Orion version & OS, and total number of elements.  When is the last time you did a reboot on the server?
