NPM on Orion Server

Since I've upgraded to 8.1 whenever I open Orion's NPM it sits there for a while saying its building the network model and doesn't give me the option of connecting to any of our other pollers like it used to and when I close it down it comes up and tells me that closing NPM will stop all polling and stats collection.

If I open NPM on our poller it give the option to open either the remote poller or the base poller.

Am I opening the wrong program, how do I get the option to select either of my pollers.

If I understand what you are asking, I think you need to either let it finish building your network model (at least the first time)

Once it comes up (this can take a while, maybe around 10-15 min depending on size of DB) select FILE -> advanced properties -> disable baseline calc at startup. This should allow you to get basically right in.

I've tried what you've suggested but it still complains that closing down will stop all polling and it still doesn't give me the option of which polling engine to open.

When I open NPM again it goes throught the same sequence build the network model etc.

bizzarre. From what I hear, sounds like your installation was corrupt. maybe someone else can chime in, but I'd reload Orion at this point.

I advise that you may install haofix1-4 for Orion 8.1.

I have just installed Orion 8.1(From Orion 7.8.5) what poll over 6000 element.This Orion 8.1 system have normally run for some days.

I've done a repair of Orion and so far so good not a break all day. I'll let you know on Monday if it continues or goes back.

Did you installed the Engineering Tools Edition in that server?

A similar situation happened to us after we installed Engineering tools v9. We found that the NPM from tools v9 took over the desktop shortcut for Orion NPM. Just make sure that the shortcut is linked to the proper Orion NPM executable file.

There are some bugs in Engineering tools v9,you may install Engineering tools v9.01.Otherwise,there are hotfixs 5&6 for Orion NPM 8.1,you may install they.
