Usability for Colour Blind Users

Bit of a feature request: as someone suffering from red/green colour blindness I have to say that many of the graphs in the Solarwinds product set (particularly IPSLA) are almost unreadable.Could the designers of the web interface please consider using:

to check to see if their graphs and tables remain usable for colour blind users, please?

Any other forum members have usability issues along these lines? fwiw I can't tell when the actual LEDs on most of our equipment change between red/green/amber either!

Hi Gary,

There are a number of colour schemes available within the Orion browser interface. These can be selected in the Admin > Color Scheme section. The CSS could also be adjusted by editing the CSS files (be aware you would need to keep these updated when upgrading, rerunning config wizard etc.) to a colour balance that works best.

A good feature may be to allow different schemes to be applied at a user account level, as what would be appropriate for you may not be best for others.

The status graphics can also be adjusted, so instead of the green/red, you could change these to something suitable. If you look in the C:\Inetpub\SolarWinds\Orion\images\StatusIcons and C:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\Network Atlas\Maps\NetObjects locations you will see the image files in there. You can very easily add/edit these to different icons using the filename schema:

imagename-down.wmf
imagename-up.wmf
imagename-warning.wmf

Orion uses the filename convention to dynamically determine which image to use in the map/status displays.
