Polling frequency and outage duration

Question

Has anyone notice this.

I have set my poller to poll the nodes for availability after avery 120 Secs but if i see the events for a specific node i can see some nodes going down and coming back in 60 secs.

If the poller is suppose to poll after 120 seconds than how can it detect a node going down and coming back in 1 min.

As per the above settings the outage duration in mins can be in multiple of 2 mins only like 2,4,6,8,10........ not 1,2,5,6,9 etc.

Strange....

Any inputs on this ???

I understand what you're saying.  You have your Nodes polled every 120 seconds.  But when you look at your graphs/stats you see that a random device's status can go down, and then back up within 1 minute (going by the event timestamp).  I have seen the polling status of a Node change to Fast Polling during a down period.  I am not sure, but I think when the Node's status changes to down it is polled more frequently to ensure accurate uptimes??  But then again I'm not sure how fast "Fast Polling" is.  SW Staff may be able to help.  Denny or Casey??

I know i can change the settings to ping every 10 secs but if i have configured the poller to poll only after 120 secs than node up and down event should have a Time interval slab of 2 mins not 1 mins or below.

I have configured my poller for availability polling interval of 120 secs and statastic polling interval of 300 secs.

Under Network Performance Monitor Settings, you can go all the way down to 10 seconds for the "Check response time and status of each node". The top setting. .

You could also have an alert triggered where the response time is less than your set amount of 120 seconds.
