We are trying to do disaster recovery and get system production. We have been running a raid 10 mirror configuration. Problem is I have to failover for disaster procedures. So, I have to run config manager and select the second DB server and connect to NETPERFMON. Is there some other way of doing this?
We have talked about changing from mirroring to replication, It seems like a very manual process going back to the original DB. Can you add 2 SQL servers and make one a primary?? I have to be able to failolver the application server to hot swap location and also failover to secondary SQL box. Is there some kind of ODBC hook you can put in orion, so it would know if the primary is down? We talked about using an alias in DNS basically as one solution. I'm just looking for others thoughts.
