Dataype ntext not available in Microsoft SQL 2008 - yet remains in Orion's database

Team,

The datatype "ntext" is not selectable or unavailable in SQL Server 2008. This make it difficult to create reports from the alert/event records in Orion. Has anyone else seen this and developed a work around? Tried using the datatype "varchar" instead of "ntext"? How does the Orion development team address this?

I have the trouble. I can not get the reports I want because of this issue.

Any solution on the horizon?

I checked the support logs and benbree's case # 157338 was addressed and closed by SW Support. Here's what I found:

"In SQL Server 2008 ntext is still supported but is recommended to use nvarchar(max) instead, because ntext will be removed in future version of MS SQL Server:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187993.aspx

Please backup the DB first for precaution."
