SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor 11.5.2 Hotfix 2
===========================================
This hotfix addresses the following issues:
Interface names in the Orion Web Console contain lot of trailing zeros.
Low processing performance of UnDP DataProcessing results in UnDP resources showing old data or in a long MSMQ queue.
Note: This hotfix is not cumulative with SolarWinds NPM 11.5.2 HotFix 1. Hotfix 1 can be installed separately anytime.
Install the hotfix on all polling engines which are affected by the issue.
Installing the hotfix:
-------------------------
1. Log in as an administrator to the server hosting your SolarWinds NPM installation.
2. Extract the hotfix archive, run SolarWinds-NPM-v11.5.2-HF2.exe and follow instructions in the installation wizard.
3. Complete the Configuration Wizard. If the wizard does not launch automatically, start it in the SolarWinds Orion program folder (SolarWinds Orion > Configuration and Auto-Discovery > Configuration Wizard).
Interface names will now display without trailing zeros and the UnDP DataProcessing performance issues will no longer occur.
bump..
Orion on HF6 NPM HF3
Like to see NPM 11.5.3
We can't commit to a time frame, but this is something we are looking at doing. For my own curiosity, since the HF are cumulative now, what's the advantage for you of an SR over HF?
Step one should read:
1. Log in as the built in administrator account to the server hosting your SolarWinds NPM installation.
Support runs into this all the time. I know it is best practice to not use that account but when dealing with Admins and they use their personal logins that they have local admin rights they figure that it is the same as the built in administrator account there is one problem with that. They also are domain Admins as well. A lot of these issues could be solved just by logging in as the built in Local Administrator account.. That is who if you follow the admin guide is the account you should be installing with in the first place. Just saying. LOL.
LoL
Its not running that extra exe file !!
IT'S "OLD Understanding" That HotFix is for 1% problems.
IF there is a bug that will hit more that that X % that is SR release...
Hope that clear that up
:-)
hi Kate
I know that solarwinds can make hotfix to Orion core or NPM faster than SR.
I just don't want to update setup that has 5-6 server to the 11.5.2 of NPM and 7.4 NCM and 6.2.2 SAM with APE&AWS
.... than HotFix all the setup.
My environment is a 24/7 NOC that use only that setup for alerting/monitoring.
I Just can't take this down more than 60 minutes with out getting "BOB" (boss of the boss) running down the stairs
Hi
Is 4+6 magic number for that SR ?
Network Performance Monitor v11.5.2-Hot Fix 4
Orion Platform v2015.1.2-Hot Fix 6
Please ?
well i guess it would be 11.6 directly coz i just saw a post from Solarwinds that 11.6 BETA is released.
hi
that what i try to avoid....
its its look like that 11.5.2 + all the HotFix is now stable.
11.6 will have new features that can/will introduce new bugs.
I Like to use the the new alert engine from 11.5 without the the new UI.
I need that "clean sheet"
the he road to this stable release was too bumpy...
yea thats true....newwer version could bring new issues. Its always good to test it and move to Prod and only if the new functionalities are required.
So far there are only two new features of 11.6. 11.5 was pretty unique since there were literally TONS of new features. While SolarWinds does constantly innovate their products, I have never seen so many new features in a single release as there was in 11.5. More features meant more bugs though. I highly doubt you will see a release with the number of issues that 11.5 had because I highly doubt you will ever see another release with so many new features in it. For the most part, Orion releases are quite stable and usually are good to on GA day, or shortly after. 11.5 was just an anomaly.
Hi humejo
yes & no it's quite stable but anomaly it's not :-( and its normal...
EXpect that in generation change release I still remember quite good 9.5
Running the latest/greatest 11.5.3 and experiencing the same issue. Discovery runs pretty well all the way but seizes at the end; then the Job Engine fails. It's a simple discovery too with 1 SNMP credential, nothing else, ignore ICMP only, and roughly 50 statically defined nodes that I know exist. The real kicker is that it's a 100% clean buildout too. Brand new VMware virtual machines (very nicely spec'd), brand new SQL database, no Windows Firewall, no UAC, no group policies, no Anti-virus. It's about as clean as it can be with just NPM 11.5.3. Been trying to isolate for a while now.
1. Orion Permission Checker = 100% clean
2. Server is Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard with 6-cores at 3.02 GHz, 24gb RAM, and 10x500 disk RAID-10 of 15k drives. Again with nothing currently in it; just trying to discover the first 50-nodes.
3. UAC = Off
4. Anti-virus = Off
5. 1gbps NIC. All nodes being discovered are on the same 1gbps LAN segment.
6. No Firewall in-between. No Windows Firewall & no other hardware/software firewalls.
7. SNMP Walk testing to a few nodes is successful
8. Database = brand new instance on a 2014 SQL server. Tried spinning up a second new one; no difference.
9. Not domain joined; no group policies.
10. No other modules; just NPM 11.5.3.
11. Discovery job is 50-static nodes with 1-SNMP credential; should be pretty simple.
12. Appears to discover 30 to 40 nodes then the discovery never finishes; just hangs forever with the progress bar towards the end. Application Event log shows the Job Engine fails.
It's really strange but regardless the issue appears to be still present in 11.5.3.
11.5.3 isn't released right?

It's been released.
SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor Release Notes
Oh..k Sorry didnt know...just went thru the release notes, nothing specific it has for upgrade....
Yes it's been out for a little bit. Still have an open support case; its a really odd issue.
Did you ever find a solution to this?
