Solarwinds Group report

Case (1)

Is there anyway that you can group all the nodes together and set a report for that particular group only.

For example If you have nodes like node1, node2, node3, node4, node5, node6. I want these all nodes to be grouped with name TEAM. Is there any way that I can set the report for that particular group TEAM. I wants to see the memory utilization, cpu load, disk usage for each of these nodes of that group.

Case (2)

Also I wants to have a different report or notification saying that I alert or send notification in the form of an email only when a value is outside its normal tolerances.

Can someone please help on this.

Someone created a fantastic Node Summary report (TJohnson?) but it does not do disks and SNMP processor count.

There is no report in the SolarWinds that will give this kind of data.

Instead, take the Top 10 View, copy it, and target only the TEAM servers. This will only give you real-time stats, you can't do historical data.

There are several ways you can do this.

You can create a group called 'TEAM'

Settings > All Settings > Manage Groups (Under Node and Group Management section)

Click on ADD A NEW GROUP | Specify TEAM as your group name

Under Available object, Select Nodes (Show Only) and select Nodes1-6

OR create a dynamic query | Create group.

For Reporting on group members, I'm sure there's an easier way but I would create a Custom SQL Query. I do something similar in my Group view and you can just build on this to get the report you need.

a) Create a Node custom property, let's call it "OWNER" for this example.

b) Assign "TEAM" as the value of the custom property "OWNER". (You'll see this when you edit a node) on the nodes1-6

You can also go to manage nodes, select all nodes1-6 and select EDIT PROPERTIES to multi-edit and Assign "TEAM" as the value of the custom property "OWNER"

You can then edit one of the node reports and add the additional values you'd wanna see in that report.

You have to setup a Custom Report to make this happen - Groups currently do not have the associations in the DB to get a report like you want without SQL/SWQL to join the tables with the needed data.

Hi,

I want to create CPU and memory an email alert for group of nodes. (Note: I have created group)

I was following this url

But on fig 4, I don't see I can add cpu, memory. How do I do this ?

If you are alerting on Group Members then your option here is to use the threshold settings for CPU/Mem Values and then alert when a group Member is Warning or Critical. This is because your dynamic selection options in the alert build restrict your inclusive values to the 'Group Member Status', and thus restricting you further to use the thresholds - unless you want to setup a SQL Query for this alert (which may or may not be better/faster).

Of course this will trigger the alert when anything changes the Node status(to Warning or Critical), so make sure other thresholds are set properly or left blank if you do not want that specific entity on the node to affect/change the node status.

These thresholds are either set globally, or for each Node.

For global - Settings -> All Settings -> Scroll down to 'Thresholds & Polling' -> Click 'Orion Thresholds'

and then you can set thresholds for CPU, RAM, Disk Usage, Response Time and Packet Loss.

When you edit the node thresholds will show to add in non global thresholds for that specific node(or selected Nodes).

Use Node thresholds if something needs to be outside of your global Settings.
