Need dynamic interface chart on the Node Details view - which resource?

I want to place a chart on the node details view that shows historical traffic information for specific interfaces on that node. Some questions: What resource would I use? How would I auto-select the appropriate interfaces on the node being viewed? Would I use a Yes/Mo custom property to flag the interfaces on each node that should appear on the chart?

Use a custom chart resource, this custom swql should work:

select i.fullname, i.traffic.inpercentutil, i.traffic.outpercentutil

from orion.npm.interfaces i

where i.customproperties.myproperty = 1 and nodeid=${nodeid}

Obviously set your property to whatever name you want to give it, and if you want bps instead of percent then its just inbps and outbps

Thanks. Tried this and instead of getting a single result for the appropriate interface on a given node, I get the same interface listed 618 times. What's that all about?

To be clear, each line shows the exact same interface name, but the In and Out Util values are different. Is it somehow showing individual polled values instead of just hteh CURRENT value?

Bah I forgot to include a datetime, thats what I get for doing these off the top of my head. Here's some screenshots of how I got it working.

Start by adding the custom chart resource to the view >

Uncheck 'Use current network object...' and click Select Datasource

From the drop down selecft advanced database Query, make sure the radio button is in SWQL

Paste this in and change "comments" to whatever your property is

select i.fullname, i.traffic.inpercentutil, i.traffic.outpercentutil, i.Traffic.DateTime

from orion.npm.interfaces i

where i.customproperties.Comments = '1' and i.nodeid=${nodeid}

Any time you do custom swql/sql based custom charts there are some settings you need to do.

Click Add Data Series, select Inpercentutil then Add Data Series at the bottom of the window.

Next to inpercentutil click more > Browse, select DateTime, Add Column, you should have something like this:

Add data series again, this time select outpercentutil, then repeat the bit about settings the time column.

At the Data Grouping section near the bottom hit Browse, select fullname, then do the same for "Legend Shows"

Submit and you should have it
