After Cisco UCS monitoring hints and tips

In a word how ?

So we have 2 physical halves and a virtual , lets call them xxxucs-a, xxxucs-b and xxxucs.

I have added all three but we frequently seem to lose the virtual

We have snmp v3 enabled for the UCS and get good information back , however we get nothing from the blades as they are just icmp , Is this the correct way to do it ?

I'm not 100% certain if it's a lack of Orion support at this time, or a lack of Cisco information; but I agree that amount of detail is limited. As for your original query, you treat the physical fabrics as monitored nodes, and don't bother monitoring the VIP. The VIP is only going to provide details on the active fabrics anyhow, so the info will be redundant.

Yes and quite frankly its rubbish , you get next to no information back what so ever.

As a baseline, did you use the NPM Admin Guide (pg 835) to configure your UCS monitoring?
