How to deploy Network Monitoring for devices with same ip addresses from different network?

Hi,

Currenlty we are using NPM for a single Network, but in future we have to monitor different customer of different network. While do so, there is a chance to have duplicate private ip addresses of different devices, is there any particular deployment options available in solarWinds?

You can do this through using a second polling engine. Other then that I personally would NAT them.

Even if i deploy second polling Engine with Main Poller, how can we differentiate Network Devices from statistical point of view. Because Main and Second poller will use the same database. Also any events or trap, how would differentiate Network Devices.

I also think, NAT could be the best solution in this case?

I believe each device gets it's own SW ID. Meaning the database can tell the difference.

However Yes I would personally take the second approach and just NAT them. It will save you the cost of a second poller and it shouldn't be to much of an issue if you internal addressing is clean and logical.

Been there, Done that. Nat is the proper way to do it. What I did was create a nat for each device to translate the real IP to a private nat IP, then use VPN to connect to it. So for instance I have 4 locations, each has a firewall, and behind the firewall are 4 machines, each one identical at each site, IP, Name, Etc. The one difference was the domain name, so server1.blah.com at one site, server1.blah.org at another. I have a firewall in front of Orion. I build a VPN connection between that firewall and the four other locations, and route only that subnet used for the NAT back to Orion. Orion can now poll each server by its Natted IP, poll based on that IP, and the distinguisher is the domain name.
