Hello, I've asked support about this over the phone but never got a clear response. Sometimes we need to adjust our bandwidth statement on Cisco routers as we increase and decrease the speed of the circuit. This statement is what Orion uses to reflect the bandwidth in NPM. My question is how do I get Orion to update once the bandwidth statement is changed? And if I don't do anything will Orion eventually figure it out and update itself? I prefer to make sure it's updated while I'm working on it, so I will go into the node details for the router and click "Rediscover" (running 10.1) All I've been told is this does not force rediscover real time. When the page refreshes I see the "Next rediscover" time has been updated to reflect 30 minutes in the future, but the bandwidth under the serial interfaces did not change. The event log shows the following information:
1/10/2011 9:11 AM router1Serial0/1/0 · MPLS circuit-xyz- Configured Interface Speed changed from 1024000 to 1544000 bps
1/10/2011 8:48 AM router1Serial0/1/0.20 · MPLS circuit-xyz- Configured Interface Speed changed from 1024000 to 1544000 bps
This would suggest to me that Orion picked up on the change and everything should be good, but if I go into the interface details it still shows the old bandwidth. Finally, to get everything correct, I go into the serial interface and click "Rediscover" on each. At which point I get the following event output:\
1/10/2011 9:15 AM router1Serial0/1/0.20 · MPLS circuit-xyz User defined Transmit Bandwidth changed from 1024000 to 1544000 bps
1/10/2011 9:15 AM router1Serial0/1/0.20 · MPLS circuit-xyz User defined Receive Bandwidth changed from 1024000 to 1544000 bps
1/10/2011 9:14 AM router1Serial0/1/0 · MPLS circuit-xyz User defined Transmit Bandwidth changed from 1024000 to 1544000 bps
1/10/2011 9:14 AM router1Serial0/1/0 · MPLS circuit-xyz User defined Receive Bandwidth changed from 1024000 to 1544000 bps
Everything is updated correct at this point. It would appear that doing a "Rediscover" on the node itself does not rediscover changes on its interfaces.
