Hello, and thanks...
Is there a way to prevent log entries in the System log for "Microsoft-Windows-DistributedCom" ID 10028 entries when a windows system managed my NPM/Orion is no longer online?
thanks
chris
I get this same event, 10028, many times a day for multiple servers, too.
I tried the fix referred to in: DCOM was unable to communicate in NPM
Which is in a KB: SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Event 10009. DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer...
But it's not the same thing.
=foonly=
Has this issue been resolved? I'm looking for the resolution.
I'm starting to see this now. Has there been any resolutions.
DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx using any of the configured protocols; requested by PID 5af0 (C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SolarWinds\JobEngine.v2\SWJobEngineWorker2x64.exe).
I have thousands of these as well.
I'm having the same issue, any updates?
I get the same error on two of my nodes.
Event 10028, DistributedCOM
DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer...
I use "Windows Servers: WMI and ICMP" authentication and found the "Test Connection" under the Node settings failed on these two servers. Checking the servers I found the firewall settings were set with Block Inbound Domain Connections, switching to Allow has resolved my issue.
Any variations to this configuration I think you will find the resolution in your firewall settings.
Event 10028
This event indicates a communication problem between the local computer and the one specified in the event. The problem can be caused by several factors:
- remote computer is offline
- the network is experiencing problems (cabling, switches, routers, etc)
- firewalls may block the traffic between the two computers
- the DNS servers may be unavailable or they may provide the wrong IP address for that particular host name
