Hi All,
Just wanted to confirm if Solarwinds DB can be configured to connect on port other than 1433?
1. On the SQL server, run the SQL Server Configuration Manager.2. Select the SQL Server Network Configuration.3. Select from the list the instance you want to configure to listen to on a specific port.
4. To change the port assignment, right-click on the TCP/IP protocol and select Properties.
5. Click on the IP Addresses tab.
Note: Both IP5 and IP6 are disabled and the TCP Dynamic Ports setting is set to “0”, which means that the database engine is listening on dynamic ports. This instance currently uses port number 1433.
6. Specify the port number you want to use instead of 1433 by entering the preferred port number. 7. In order to finish the adjustment, select SQL Server Services, click on SQL Server and restart it.
8. After the SQL ports have been changed, ensure that the new port has been opened for Orion server to communicate with the SQL server.
9. Run configuration wizard on the Orion server to connect to SQL server. At the database setting in the configuration wizard, you need to add the port to the end of the SQL server name.
eg. Solarrwind,1555
Hello,
Are you speaking strictly Orion Platform to Orion SQL Server? Are you also running DPA or any other type of SQL monitoring?
Bryan
Hi Brian,
I am talking strictly Solarwinds server to Solarwinds DB server.
Can I ask why you want to change the port? Are you having issues using 1433?
actually we are having a customer where they have a shared SQL and there is another tool which is going to use 1433 and informed us that we cannot use the same for Solarwinds and hence this question.

its saying i dont have access when i click on this URL...
Thanks a ton!
So at the fresh installation as well, i can use the custom port, right?
Anything else that i should keep in mind by going with custom port from Solarwinds perspective?
Nope.
