Interface Utilization Report – Filter by Node’s IP

To create the Custom report:

Open the Report Writer
Click New
Select Historical – Interface Availability
Title the report
Select Fields as the image below:

6. Filter results:

7. Select Time Frame:

8. Select Summarization:

9. Select Report Grouping:

Added the Report to the Web-console:

Click Customize Page
Click PAGE SETTINGS

3. Click the PLUS to Add to your Column “Report from Orion Report Writer"

4. Click DONE

5. Find the new resource on the web-console and EDIT

6. Select the report from the drop down list

7. Click SUBMIT

Is there a specific reason you would still be creating Reports in the Report Writer vs in the Web using either Web based reports or Custom Table/Query Resources? Just curious if there is a use case that would keep you from using the newer technologies and sticking with the Legacy reporting tool.

You can use the Web reporting.

I have heard (3 years ago) that the report writer will disappear and we still have it in the product - it is my preference to use the report writer in some cases.

Another reason to use the Report Writer reports is if you want to include a legacy report (Report Writer) in a view resource. As far as I can determine (NPM 12.2) you still cannot display a web based report in a view resource.

I am thinking this is still on the roadmap, just not there yet. Until then Report Writer will continue to live.

Using the Custom Query/Table/Chart options are the way to display the report info into a specific view. It is just a matter of do you need the report as well, and if so, then I look at using Custom HTML resource for that purpose. I know having the older ability to just pick a report from report writer was sorely misses when the web based version of reporting was introduced, but with the addition of those Custom resources, I have seen less and less use for the report Writer. The one thing I think is still missing is the show SQL\SWQL for web based reports. I found that very useful in report writer.

The view SQL is the main reason I use it.

A secondary reason is pulling custom properties from multiple different areas (Node, Interface) in the DB for a report and join them into a single report. I have run into problems with web reports not seeing the custom property I am searching for.

I will typically use Report writer to generate the SQL, then create a custom SWQL/SQL query in a web based report as they have said it is going away.
