Handling Scheduled Down Time
pfranklin
Hello,
Once a month the office I work for has scheduled maintenance nights when they take down the servers for updates and general maintenance. We are looking to roll out Orion NPM v7 fairly soon and I am looking for a way to make it so that the down time occurring on these maintenance nights doesn't count against the up time in NPM.
Thanks in advance,
Peter Franklin

Peter,
Just wondering if you found a solution as I am looking to do the same thing but not sure how.
Thanks!

Hello Mr. Franklin,
You can select a device in Orion system manager, go to the Node Details view, and click unmanage. Put your outage window time frame in and you're set.
Be fantastic.

or you can download the report write update from the solarwinds download area which contains updated reports where you can define "business hours".
It should be possible to create an report telling you the actual downtime (incl outage) and business downtime (without outage).
I think for reporting purposes this would be the best solution as you can see if an device went down and if so if it impacted the business.
