NPM v10.6 not discovering Read/Write Community String during network discovery

Hello All,

I have NPM v10.6 installed and working on my network.

For the most part it works well.

I have run into an issue where NPM does not detect SNMP RW community on devices as a "Read/Write Community String" when a network sonar discovery is done. NPM only detects the community  as a "Community String"

The community is set on the device as READWRITE, in this case a DELL PowerConnect 6248 Switch

It happens for other devices as well such as APC Rack PDU

This is causing a problem as I have to manually enter the RW community on each device before I can use the write features of other Solarwinds application (e.g turn off a interface in UDT)

Is this a known or common problem?

I would like for NPM to discover the Read/Write Community String during network sonar discovery.

The community string (Read-Only or Read-Write) is not something that is discovered, but rather must be specified. This something that is inherent in SNMP protocol and associated security. The SNMP Write string can be set in bulk via "Manage Nodes" in NPM. Multi-select the nodes you want to change and bulk edit the node properties.
