ESX Credentials - Failing and then Not Failing

Hello,

I am hoping that someone might be able to assist me with this issue that I’ve been having.

Sometimes I login to my Orion website and see that message bar with text “2 VMWare servers with bad credentials”. So I go to the virtualization tab and to VMWare settings. I see some of my ESX hosts there with the Grey Icon and a little red circle with an exclamation point. I see what Credentials it should be using and that appears correct.

Then I select the ESX host and click “Assign ESX Credential” and choose the exact same credential and click Test. The test is a success. Assign the ESX Credential and problem resolved.

Does that seem a little strange to anyone here?

For sure sounds odd, almost like a timing issue. Please open a support ticket so we can dig into deeper and look int the logs to see if that gives more info.

We have a similar issue on several of our esxi servers that are being polled over wan links. I would be curious as to what is done to resolve this issue so we can implement the same solution.

Same here. I saw this all the time on my last deployment, and there were only about 80 hosts and 1500 VM's.

We have this happen quite a bit as well. Next time it happens I'll open a support ticket unless you come up with a fix Zach.

Hi Zach,

We're aware of the problem and i believe it's fixed in the upcoming release of NPM.

For sure i can tell you after i take a glance at diagnostics from your Orion.

I'm having the issue as well with our ESX servers. Guess I'll wait for the upcoming release of NPM. Any idea when that is slated for?

Hi darkshooter, there is no release yet, but at the moment you can try the latest Beta (NPM 10.2 Beta 3). You could run it on another server and see if the issue is still there or not.

To get it you need to contact SW support and tell them that you're interested in Beta program.
