Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
Using Orion to monitor Enterprise NW
tdo_001
Hi All,
I'm looking for some network management tools to monitor ~300 routers and 2000 switches. I took a look at Orion it seems to lack some important features such as:
1. Flexibility: One can not add custom managed object.
2. Important statistics for popular technology: For example, there is no FECN, BECN, DE for Frame Relay circuit. There is no ATM information for ATM circuit.
3. Grouping devices into regions or management realms and provide statistics/reports per management group.
Any comments/corrections would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
TD

Some of the features you have mentioned are now supported in Version 7.0
- You can now add custom fields to the database to track circuit numbers, etc.
- Grouping objects in the Web interface is also now implemented.
As for the rest, Orion is only as good as the SNMP MIBs supported by
the device you want to monitor. There is no support for custom MIBs at this time however.
-=Cheers=-
