LSASS.EXE process taking a lot of CPU time on Orion poller

We have noticed in the last few days that the LSASS process is using a lot of CPU time on the Orion 9.5 polling server.

Does Orion use this process, or should I suspect something nefarious going on here?

Could this be tied to the number of concurrent security logins to the server?

There’s a Microsoft problem with the Windows 2008 version of lsass.exe that create a performance bottleneck for WMI calls. Microsoft fixed this in Windows 2008 R2, but WE DO NOT SUPPORT INSTALLING ORION ON WINDOWS 2008 R2 at this time.

The only workarounds we have is for the customer to downgrade to Windows 2003, or to make less use of any SolarWinds Orion monitoring that uses the WMI protocol to gather information.
