Any V8 fixes for custom pollers?

Hi, I'm new to SW, and we are trying to determine if SW V8 can replace VitalNet. I'm focusing on custom MIB pollers to duplicate VitalNet's ability to discover 'popular' non MIB-2 resources out of the box. So far I am having a hell of a time with just a single poller for Bluecoat's CPU and Disk utilization stats (using Bluecoat MIB provided with SW MIB database). I created a custom collector for this in VitalNet, so it seems a fair comparison.

I seem to be having the same problems others are:

1. SW doesn't handle tabular entries, so you have to manually enter each OID and use a GET. GET NEXT on the parent OID only appears to get the first entry
2. Browsing for OID's can hang the interface for a few minutes
3. Even though the test always returns data, when I assign a gauge to the custom poller, it shows no data at the gauge or Excel dump. I have tried using Rate, Counter, and even RAW for grins. Same results.

Getting frustrated, and my expectation is this would be much easier than the coding I have to do for VitalNet using MIBWorks. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a known issue and there's a patch?

Everyone--our SW admin applied 8.0.2 (we were at 8.0.1), which appears to have fixed the data collection and gauge issues.
