Orion NPM 9.1 SQL Authentication

Hello, I am new to Orion. I am trying to move our Orion NPM 9.1 to new hardware. My first step is to move the database to an existing SQL 2005 server which is running in Windows Authentication Mode. (The database is currenty on a local install of SQL express.) I have successfully moved the database and attached it to the new server. When I try to run the Orion configuration wizard to point to the new database, I get a message that says: "The SQL Server needs to be changed to Mixed Mode Authentication. Click OK to change". Our standard is to use only Windows Authentication on our SQL servers. Is there a way for me to accomplish this?

Hi,

I do not think this is possible to use a Windows account as Orion will for its day to day activities use a SQL account with limited rights to read/write on the database.

The Configuration Wizard only let you connect with a Windows account that will then setup a SQL account for Orion.

Note that changing the authentication mode to the mixed one requires a restart of the SQL Service.

The ability for Orion to use Windows Authentication to connect to the SQL database was added in NPM 12.2 and all product modules which include Core 2017.3.
