Appliances listed as net-snmp

Hi,

Some of my monitored nodes in NPM are listed as net-snmp because the SNMP daemon that the particular vendors have used on their appliances.

Is there any way I can set the vendor type correctly on each node individually? The nodes I'm having issues with are Checkpoint GAiA virtual appliances and Riverbed Stingray appliances.

Unfortunately it's not possible. Vendor Type is polled value and evaluation is based on OID - SysObjectID, you can't overwrite this polled value. You can tell us this unknown device and we will update our database eventually.

But you can always create "Custom Property" on Nodes and manage your custom vendors manually.

But the problem I have is around manufacturers use of a generic snmp daemon so the SysObjectID field will be the same value across all devices that use it. Its almost a flaw in the way net-snmp is implemented by (in my case) Checkpoint and Riverbed. But it would be good to have a manual override for the default of using SysObjectID to determine the host's vendor.

I just know that framework is the way to label yourself that OID to what ever you want :-)

I have vendors that has change name 2-3 time ...
