Advance Alerting: Generating improper quantity of email alerts

Hello:

I'm attempting to set up a custom email alert that triggers when devices flagged with a 'True' for being an SLA item goes down. When I test the alert, it seems to work fine, sending a single email to the specified address. But when I activate the alert in Orion, and something goes down, I get 5 of the same email, all at the same time.

How do I troubleshoot this? I've attached a view of the SQL config.

I would recommend opening a case with support at this point. They will need to dig in and find out why the property isn't there. You can do this by going to Technical Support Ticket Submission Form | SolarWinds

I would recommend changing the type of property to monitor to Node, not Custom Node Poller since this is an alert on node status and not a custom poller value. Also, do you have anything in the email action, editing it, under the Alert Escalation tab to repeat the email?

OK, but I couldn't get this to do what I want that way. I need to be able to tirgger this alert only on devices with the custom poller attribute of being an SLA monitored item. Not being an SQL guy isn't helping me, admittedly, but what I don't understand is if it tests OK, why would it act differently in a live-fire situation?

No, I do not have it set to repeat the action.

Is that a custom poller or a custom property? You can still use this without Custom SQL, you just need two conditions.

Node Status is equal to down

Metrics_Uptime = 1

Did you edit the trigger action and check the Alert Escalation tab to make sure the option to send the action repeatedly was not checked? This would not happen in a test, but would occur once the alert was enabled.

I think it is a custom property. I'm trying to redo it as you specify but it's a struggle for a SQL neophyte..

Yes, I made sure the repeat action box is not checked.
