Adding SNMPv1 Node

I have a media converter shelf that I would like to monitor in Orion (latest version 8.5.1) It uses only SNMP v1, I cannot add the device in Orion however using the engineers toolset I can use SNMP v1 and walk the MIB. I think there is a bug in Orion. Thoughts, suggestions?

What error message is received when you try to add this node?

The node 'x.x.x.x' does not respond with the community string 'blahblah'

I am using the same community in the SNMP walk and it matches exactly to what the device is configured for. I checked for typos, etc

Have you checked all the obvious - is the community string
set to public, are there any acls or trusted hosts set, anything like a
firewall between orion and the target? Tried other versions of
SNMP?

I've run into the same thing using Orion V8.1 (I assumed it was a bug in 8.1).
I can MIB walk and poll the device using the Engineers Toolset installed on my Orion server but Orion cannot talk to it.
Looking at a sniffer trace Orion is querying the System MIB, but if the device does not reply with the system MIB Orion can't add it.
The Eng Toolset seems to carry on and query the device anyway, even if it doesn't receive the SystemMIB back on the initial SNMP query.

I've gotten around this by adding a different known working SNMP device and then going back and changing the IP and Community to the non-working device and doing a rediscovery. Sometimes this works and sometimes not.

I believe V8.5.1 has enhanced the SNMP discovery and does recognize more devices than 8.1 ?!?
