No Utilization report from solarwinds if it is in serial link interface

Hi,

We are facing issue with nothing showing up when we run the report for Utilization of a Serial Link Interface. It shows empty as shown below. Where as we get the report if it is for other than serial link.

Please advise, what has to be done to resolve the issue

I see a subinterface. Do you have the corresponding VLAN properly configured? Is there anything actually sending traffic across the VLAN? Just checking basics here first.

BTW, need a quick help. How to turn off automatic dependencies generation. It was enabled and the parent/child setup we had done, seems not working.

settings has an option to turn off the auto dependencies if I recall correctly. Meanwhile if the parent/child isn't working then did something else get added as the parent?

Hi designerfx, here is an update from Network team regarding the serial interfaces. The mentioned VLAN is a production one and configured properly. They could see the traffic flowing as well.

Please throw some light on this. Thanks.

try setting the bandwidth for TX and RX

- select interface

- select edit

- check bandwidth

Hi designerfx, I have moved all the dependencies which were auto generated to ignore. After that it has been observed that, during the ISP link down or power outage, we are getting tickets only for routers as expected and all other devices are being shown with (Yellow color), and no incidents were generated.

But, after 2 minutes, all the child group devices are showing as red and getting ticketed. The node down alert was having 1 minute condition in the trigger condition. I think as per the dependencies setup (Router group as Parent and other devices group as Child), the condition is breaking somewhere and changing to down status. Please help me on this.

Hi @i_like_eggs, I checked and found that the Serial Iterface's Bandwidth setting was done automatic. It seems to be considering from system and shows as 1.98, 1.88, etc.

Do we need to modify it to 100? if so, would that resolve the issue? Also, do we need to reduce the Interface Status Polling as well? Please advise. Thanks.

Hi @i_like_eggs, thanks for the quick confirmation. I have updated 2 serial interfaces in one device. We will check tomorrow, if any values are being shown.

Hi @designerfx, I have disabled the auto dependency from Settings -> Polling Settings -> Enable Auto Dependencies. Here it shows a tick mark, if the auto is enabled. I have unchecked to turn off the Auto dependencies .
