Proper shutdown of Orion

The SQL database that hosts multiple instances including Orion had to be rebooted today.

What is the recommended method/order of shutting down the Orion application server services for such an outage -- do I just reverse the order for bringing the application server back up after the database is available?

Happy to read for myself if someone can point me to a documentation link.

I could be wrong but I think all the different parts of Orion act as seperate entities that all feed off the SQL server. So in reality I do not know that it matters.

Here's one way to shutdown Orion.

Note: if you shut down Orion and your SQL server, the system will not collect data during the shutdown period. It's a total "DUH" statement, I know, but as your moderator, I have to say it. So, here's the procedure:

Shut down Orion NPM services.
Shut down the SQL server.
Restart the SQL server.
Restart the Orion NPM services.

Here's how to shutdown Orion NPM services:

Click on Start>All Programs>SolarWinds Orion>Advanced Features>Orion Service Manager.
Click on Shutdown Everything.

This shuts down all services.

Once you restart the SQL server, then restart Orion NPM services:

Click on Start>All Programs>SolarWinds Orion>Advanced Features>Orion Service Manager.
Click on Start Everything.
