How do I do a "does not contain" advanced alarm?

Hi,

I am trying to setup advanced alarms and you do not have a "does not contain" variable. This makes life difficult, so it's there a way I can use a varible in the name and " is not equal"?

For example a device name 01ABC12, can I use wild cards with "does not equal" such as %%ABC%%, or ??ABC*?

Please let me know as I cannot do properly with the current options.

I think you would need to use something like this:

That is one way to do it, sadly this is a advanced rule that has many other components to it, and the parameter used is ALL of the following.

I'll try,

There are 4 Advanced alarms that all work in conjunction;

1 - Network gear 24x7 down/up

2 - All servers except for certain ones 8 - 22:00

3 - Certain servers 22:00 - 8

4 - Certain servers 24 x7 that have been down longer than 7 minutes

All have different notifications and groupings

Number 1 - given, number 2 excludes vendor cisco and other named servers (could use the does not contain here for point 4 servers), number 3 excludes certain servers in no. 2 and excludes others and vendor cisco, and number 4 are the ones that I would like to figure out the does not contain for as they only wanted to be alerted if these systems are down more than 7 minutes and different alerts during production than off production.

I think i might have figured a way to do this...If on point 2 and 3 I surpress alerts based on name contains "ABC" then I assume I will get all the alerts but the ones for these devices which I can then use alert 4 to capture..

Simple right?.....

I like to think I understand what you are saying but here is my two cents.

Instead of trying to limit items I filter items. Use the Custom Property Editor to your advantage.

Think of it if you have line that says Business Hours Critical and After Hours Critical and mark yes and no in the database. You then can setup alerts to follow those conditions or use them a suppressors. Than mixed with the Time of Day trigger. You have alerts that will fire off only when you want.
