Monitoring ESX Physical Volumes

Hi there,

New to the community...I've dug through the forums quite a bit but haven't seen an answer to what I would imagine is a common request.

I'm monitoring a VCenter instance with 9 hosts spread over 2 clusters. I've configured SNMP on the ESX hosts per VMWare's instructions, and I can poll them for the usual basic information. When I view resources, I can see all the VSwitches, but the volumes are listed as Linux folders... root, /usr/bin, and so on.

The ESX data stores are on our SAN, which we monitor via the vendor's tools, so we're not so much worried about those, but I'd like to be able to monitor the local disk utilization on the ESX hosts themselves.

Is this possible?

The ESX host or the Guest machines on that ESX host?

Thanks for the response. I can see utilization on the individual VMs without issue. The trouble is with the ESX hosts themselves. What I see in the demo is what I see in my environment. I guess to clarify, I'm looking for something similar to the volumes I would see on one of my Windows servers, for example, on server1, I have 3 volumes...in windows terms, C, D and P...and from there, I can see the total capacity on the volume, percent utilized, and set up alerts accordingly. Is there any way to accomplish this?

An ESX box is basically a Linux box underneath and those don't have notions with drives, that is how they split it out, by directories.
