Web interface Text links to files on server

Hi,

I am have set up a text link on the web page that customers will be accessing. I have a link to a file located in a separte drive than the Orion application. On the Orion monitoring server I have configured the share to the folder and then mapped a path to it.
Symtoms:
1. If I am accessing the web page from the Orion server I can click on the link and access the file.
2. If I am accessing the web page from a different computer which is on the same network (different domain), as the Orion managing server I can not access the file.
3. If I am accessing the web page from a different computer which is on the same network (different domain), as the Orion managing server
a). Log onto Orion manangement server from remote
b). Map a drive to the file on remote computer
I can then access the file.

This seems to be a Domain issue because I know the remote computer is in on a different domain.

Is there another way that I can set up access to this file using another web page and linking to it, if it does not require logging onto the Orion server? Any other suggestions would be appriciated.

Hi Kim,

I assume these files are some type of documentation that exists in a non html format (word, adobe acrobat, etc...).

If that is the case are these documentation files located on a server that has IIS or some other web server running? If so you could just serve the files up on that web site.

If not is there any reason why these files could not be placed on the Orion server? If each customer has a custom view that only allows them to see their devices and has links to files with permissions set to only allow them access you would be able to solve your problem and provide a relatively secure solution.

Alternately you could attempt to create a virtual folder on the Orion web site with the mapped share as the file source. This should also provide access to the docs without having to worry about Windows domains and permissions.
