Orion Module Engine Service Constantly Restarts

hi guys

after this months patches

the orion job module engine contantly restarts,

The SolarWinds Orion Module Engine service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3140 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

any ideas on how to fix this?

Do you have any additional polling engines installed? If not, then all your nodes are assigned to the one, primary polling engine.

If you do have additional polling engines installed, you can determine node assignments as in the following procedure.

Note: This procedure uses a component of Orion NPM that may be deprecated in the future as its function is transitioned to the web console. For more information the current functionality, see "Managing Orion Polling Engines – Core" in the SolarWinds Orion NPM Administrator Guide.

To determine the polling engine to which monitored nodes are assigned:

Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Monitor Polling Engines.
Click Servers > Poller Load Balancing.

Monitored nodes are listed with their respective polling engines.

You could do a reinstall but the best thing to do is probably get a ticket open.

Hi Jeremy-

Do you have nodes assigned to the engine? I ask b/c I found a case in the support logs where this was the case.

If you don't, give these steps a try:

Stop all Orion services.
Navigate to Start->All Programs->SolarWinds Orion->Advanced Features and launch the application called Monitor Polling Engines. You may get informational messages, but this is OK as long as your services are already stopped.
From the toolbar across the top of the screen, find the icon that is a picture of a silver box next to a red box; the tooltip says Poller Load Balancing. Click this icon. You may get one or more informational messages.
Select the top node in the list. Scroll to the bottom. Hold down shift and select the last node in the list. This will select all of your nodes.
Find the Polling Engines pull-down menu (next to the File pull-down menu at the very top of the window). Select it, choose "Move selected Nodes to", then select the name of your polling engine. Even if you are assigning all your nodes to the same polling engine, do this anyway.
Click Done, close all windows and open the System Manager.

If this isn't the case, get your diagnostics together and open a support ticket. When you open a support ticket, could you:

Reference this thread to Support.
Post back here with a case number.
Post any solutions you get from Support.
