Showing Unknown Interfaces as down

Is there any way to show an interface with the status 'Unknown' in the Down Interfaces box?

Its really annoying when we lose a full site due to a WAN issue and i get nothing in the Down Interfaces box because everything has become 'Unknown' ... and i don't even get an email because i wrote all the alerts to send emails when they go to down status. And i did that because in previous releases the inferface went to down status.

It's pretty easy to write using the report writer but here it is in SQL. I am filtering out interfaces that are UP, Unmanaged, Unplugged, or Unreachable.

SELECT

Nodes.NodeID AS NodeID, Nodes.Caption AS NodeName, Interfaces.InterfaceID AS InterfaceID, Interfaces.Caption AS Interface_Caption, Interfaces.Status AS Status

FROM

Nodes INNER JOIN Interfaces ON (Nodes.NodeID = Interfaces.NodeID)

WHERE

(

(Interfaces.Status <> '1') AND

(Interfaces.Status <> '9') AND

(Interfaces.Status <> '10') AND

(Interfaces.Status <> '12')

)

- If you want to get Alerted . you need to set up alert Trigger condition

- Interface status "is not equals" to "UP"

so you will be alerted for any status of interfaces .

Also you can create Group and dependencies so if your WAN is down you will not be alerted for other sites as they are not reachable..

Yeah .. thats how i got round the alerting, but the main issue i have is that the Down Interfaces on the main page in NPM doesn't show 'Unknown' interfaces.

If you power off a switch, or lose your WAN connection then all the interfaces go into 'unknown' status. These don't show in the Down Interfaces box and i really need to see those. We use this Down Interface box in our first line support set-up.

You could write a report that shows down and unknown and then show that report on your view replacing the down interface box.

Would that update in real time?

If its possible to do that i'll give it a try. I just find it annoying that i have to write my own scripts to replace the default alerting tools that have worked perfectly well up to version 10.x

I can understand that people may not want to see interfaces that have an unknown status but Solarwinds added an SQL filter to filter them out .. but i don't seem to be able to add them in if i want them??? It just doesn't make sense to me.
