NPM Website with NCM

Ok, not sure if it should go here or NCM. I have NPM 9.1 SP2 and NCM 5.0 installed. Just the other day I noticed that on the main page of NPM I have the "Last XX Config Changes" for NCM displayed but it is now reporting and error of "The Orion server cannot access the Orion NCM information service. The exact error was 'An item with the same key has already been added.' " I am not sure of what the issue is or which "item" it is talking about. Can anybody help me? If I look at the main web page for NCM, everything looks fine, even the report for config changes.

I have loaded SP2 on NCM but still have the same issue. I have verified the login for that part and still get the same error message. If I go directly to the NCM web page, it comes up without any errors. Not sure what else to check.

Try to edit the credentials on that resource to the servers login with admin rights. See if this will allow the resource to be seen. In the past we have had user say if they change the credentials on the resource only to the admin of the server the view is resolved and is able to work correctly.

I am using the Administrator account and password. I have verified them logging directly into the NCM website.

I was running into this issue all the time. All my NCM resources would display on the NPM website just fine. Id come back the next morning, and I would get the same error message for al the NCM resources on NPM's site.

I tried starting and stopping the serives using Orions service manager. no Luck.

Tried going through the admin setup and adjust NCM settings - no luck

Finally, I got on the orion server and went into its Services. The NCM service was no started. I had to manaully start this service. With in seconds, my NCM resources were viewable on the NPM website.

I have to do this everytime the Orion server is booted, as it seems the server will not automagically start the service.

With the help of Support, this got resolved. Here is what they had me do.

"        This issue can occur when there are duplicate entries in the
Orion nodes table.

        You can use the following SQL queries to check for duplicates in
the node table.
        To run these queries, open the Orion Database Manager. Connect
to your SQL server, and expand the NetPerfMon database.
        Double click on any table, then click Query.
        You'll see a default query displayed already - remove this and
use one of the blelow instead.

        1) Duplicate Nodes by Sysname.
         - Will locate any nodes with duplciate Sysnames, that may or
may not have been discovered under the same IP Address.


        SELECT Sysname, count(*)
        FROM Nodes
        GROUP BY Sysname
        HAVING count(*) > 1

        If you do get some duplicates returned from this query, use the
following to see all details about those entries.

        SELECT *
        FROM nodes
        WHERE ObjectSubType != 'ICMP' AND Sysname IN (SELECT Sysname
          FROM Nodes
          GROUP BY Sysname
          HAVING count(*) > 1)
          ORDER BY sysname

        2) Duplicate IP Addresses in the nodes table

        This will let you know which IP address is showing up in the
table multiple times

        SELECT IP_Address, COUNT(*)
        FROM Nodes
        GROUP BY IP_Address
        HAVING COUNT(*) > 1

        And the following will display the full entries for those nodes:

        SELECT *
        FROM Nodes
        WHERE IP_Address IN (SELECT IP_Address
          FROM Nodes
          GROUP BY IP_Address
          HAVING COUNT(*) > 1)

        You will need to determine which of those entries is the real
and which the duplicate, then remove the duplicate entry. You can check
the entries by noting the Node ID, which is visible on the Node Details
window in system manager.

        Also, please note that if one of these entries has been added to
your maps, it will have been added with that specific Node ID. (You can
hover over the map object and will see something like N:233 for Node ID
233)"

Worked like a charm after that.
