Solarwinds environment:-
Orion Platform 2017.1.3 SP3, CloudMonitoring 1.0.0, NPM 12.1, DPAIM 11.0.0, QoE 2.3, VIM 7.1.0, SAM 6.4.0, NetPath 1.1.0
Had an ESXi Host alert for a Predictive Failure for a disk. All good - was valid (we think) and disk changed.
But - when looking at ESXi Harwdware Health - Disk, we see zillions of entries like:-

And (for example) for Battery:-

So - initially confusion reigned and we started chasing down rabbit holes trying to work out where these Disk "errors" were coming from. Checked the Host and it doesnt have that Disk even? And there are no errors in logs (iDRAC etc.) even? And why are they Green (OK)?
Initially thought these were some erroneous status msgs from the ESXi build or something and then twigged that these are the new (to me who's previous experience with NPM/SAM was 11.0/6.1 where this did not exist) Hardware Sensors thingy (management via the Settings -> Manage Hardware Sensors.
So, questions are:
1) Is this now the new normal with Hardware Sensors? i.e. where before we would see, for example, Battery and its status we now see a "sensor" for every possible "state" of the battery (or disk or fan etc.)
2) If the above is correct (and what we are seeing is not a bug/erroneous), would disabling these sensors affect "seeing", alerting etc. for the actual component that we want to monitor? And, if all sensors were disabled, would we "lose" the actual component icon/status? (This last one because for some things there appears to be lost of "I am in error" sensors but no specific "I am general component sensor with x status").
For example:-

If I disable all those - would I still have a CPU component and would it reflect an issue if there was one (with one of the disabled sensor statuses or a general "CPU" status that (presumably) would be set from the other sensors etc.
The doc is totally unhelpful regarding this as far as I can see. It mentions how to enable/disable but I could find nothing to answer the queries above.
We want to get rid of the "error" sensors if possible - its confusing people when they expand the component items and (as I mentioned I did) sending them off on wild goose chases.
Yes - could "educate" people on what these are to circumvent the confusion but that only lasts with the cuurent crop of users. And still some wont get it.
Any and all help is appreciated.
