NPM 10.1 Win 2008 R2-cannot use existing domain account w/sysadmin role to create NPM DB, but sa works

Hi, is there a bug with using the config wizard with 2008 R2 if you wish to use integrated versus SQL authentication?

1. Sign on to server with service account that wil be used to connect to create and use to connect to remote SQL 2005 NPM database

2. Launch config wizard, works fine until selecting existing SQL account to Orion to use. Pick the account, enter password, and "The SQL user account password is not valid" pops up

3. Pick sa, enter password, it's OK

It's odd--this service account goes right into the master database when using any other SQL client software with integrated authentication, it's only SW that fails. For grins tried config wizard as administrator, so it's not that. I have searched but have not found this specific issue mentioned.

Since this is a dev box with a fresh 10.1 install I also tried installing the suite using run as administrator, evn though I already tried running the config wizard this way. No change. I also tried using a remote SQL 2008 instance and ran into the same thing..integrated not working, SQL auth fine.

Hi,

I did submit a ticket (205625) and the response received stated confirmed this statement:

1. Integrated authentication or SQL authentication can be used during the first part of the config wizard to initially access SQL and reach the ‘create new or use existing database’ option

2. Only SQL authentication can be used from that point on to create a new or connect to an existing database, and SQL authentication is what must be used during normal operation

I submitted an enhancement request to either allow integrated authentication or alter the wizard accordingly.
