Monitoring Volumes on 2000 Servers
niltinho
Hi,
I am running orion 7.8 on a 2003 sp1 box.
Have installed and configured the snmp and comunity strings to all my servers which I wanto to monitor. The problem I am having is that I dont seem to have the Volumes item to monitor on the 2000 boxes only on the 2003. Can i monitor disc volumes on 2000 servers?
Thank you.

Niltinho,
I am running 7.8.5 and I can monitor volumes on 2000 boxes without a problem. They show up the same as they do for a 2003 box. There is one thing I have bumped into that may make a difference for you. I had some systems where there were other SNMP based monitoring programs running on them (Unicenter, Dell OpenManage, HP Insight, etc) where SNMP was just acting flaky. I removed SNMP from the system using Add/Remove Programs -> Windows Components and then reinstalled it. Once I did that SNMP was working fine again. I have had this happen on 3 boxes now where I could monitor some resources but not others.
Give it a shot.

What SP are the 2000 boxes running?
I know there was a bug in 2000 SNMP pre SP3 I believe.
