What is the purpose of the IsServer field in NodeData?

How does this field get turned on? If we were to disable the field for report filtering purposes (Like removing it for SQL Cluster Instances) would this be a problem?

Dear Experts,

Could You drop a sentence or two how this field gets populated? In our system I found some servers with isServer==False and I'd like to fix it :-)
