Downloads for "older" versions of Orion

Hey Mark,

I opened a support ticket 20466 to get my Orion license reset (done) & download SLX V8.1 - secondary polling engine software.
I have yet to hear back about where I can get the older version of software.

What is the reason for pulling the older versions of software from our customer profile?
Can we at least have one release back from current software, made available in our profiles?

I looked into that case and yes there was a mix-up. The software should in your portal shortly. As for previous releases the licenses will be provisioned on a needs basis from customer requests.

So basically the best thing to do would be to download the software when it becomes available & store it somewhere safe, in case you need it at a later date.

I have all the way back to V7 of NPM dated 3/2/04 and V5.2 of EE dated from around 2002.

I just have a habit of keeping older versions of software. Heck it only adds up to around 2.3GB for all the version I have back to then. That is nothing these days.

We recently upgarded from version 9.0 to 10.1.1 SP1, and were disapointed that the intermediate base software installers were not listed in the upgrade flowchart, or avilaable for download via the customer portal. Then on top of that our download speed (during peek hours) appeared to be limited to 20KB/sec.

I have sent the comments to our release manager about download speeds. Putting older versions in the customer portal is something we plan on adding, just not as easy as it sounds at face value. Since you are going from an older version when upgrading through tiers you need not just the download, but also license keys.

You should be able to get bits for intermediate versions from within the Upgrade Instructions in the Customer Portal.

To download the Upgrade Instructions, log in to the Customer Portal, click License Management, and then click Upgrade Instructions in any listed Orion product for which you are licensed.

We are working on improving these instructions to better handle licensing for intermediate installations.

I actually though the instructions for multi-version upgrades were very intuative, and thourough....with the exception that the full release steps were omitted

Sure,

I downloaded http://solarwinds.s3.amazonaws.com/solarwinds/Support/OrionNPMModules.zip

and choose to use Upgrade_90.pdf as our guide.

I think the bottom-right two steps should be download and install NPM 9.1 for your licence level (not 9.1SP5). Of coure if an upgrade to 9.1SP5 is required, they can be maintained, but it appeared that the step to download and install 9.1 was skipped.

I know this is an old post, but I had the exact same question, so I opened SolarWinds Support Case # - 00060452, and I got the following answer:

All download are available in the customer portal, even previous ones. Just click on the Chose Download button and on the next page, click on the box below the download type option and all versions that you are entitled to will be there.

Hope that helps anyone else that stumbles across this post.
